Education and Training

The variety of scholarly  treatises  and  studies on social problem are  reflected   in  leprosy  control   activities   and  we  perform   immunization tests  and  biochemica l tests  for  inpatients  and registered patients at  ILR  ( Institution for Leprosy Research )  of KHWA. Regarding education and training services, we have been training  Hansen's  disease  control workers  and  health workers continuously (10 classes in a year) in order to improve their ability and efficiency for the performance of service required for leprosy control. ILR of KHWA is introducing the activities of Korea leprosy control  into  foreign countries  and  participating  in  world wide conferences, and seminars.


Public relations and Education

KHWA is carrying out the public relations(PR) activities to change the social prejudice  and  discrimination  about  Hansen's disease, and also  is  developing  the  public  education to make the right mind  on  Hansen's disease  by  publishing  an  alternate months periodical called "BokJi magazine" Which is delivered to all provin-cial  branches,  and  is  also carrying out health education for the public  through  other  printed  materials,  audiovisual tapes and mass  media  systems.  In  particular,  KHWA is doing it's best to attain public cooperation through public education.　

Research

For making the world without Hansen's disease and the contrib-ution of human's wellbeing, Institute for  Leprosy Research (ILR) of KHWA  is  carrying out  the  research of Hansen's disease  and some projects related  Hansen's disease. Recent major concerns of  ILR are the development of simple diagnosis tools,  exporting system for  Hansen's  disease programme,  and animal model of Hansen's disease,  method  of preventing disability  and  wound healing method for skin ulcer on insensible area.
